Well aware AB. My point was that the seller put them out there with a realistic starting price, and the successful bidder is to be congratulated because either a) they may get them at or not far from the starting bid, or b) they will get in a successful last minute bid on the heels of other hopeful bidders.

All in all a hopeful, encouraging, and exciting genuine auction. This is what built ebay, and what some of us remember and miss from the early days.

I saw a local set go for 300 on FeePay not long ago they were PU only.

I had a friend that brought over 4 of the powered versions of those 35 years ago. With my stereo running their amps; turntable, preamp, equalizer, we could never get them to sound as good as my pair of A7-500's even though there were four of them, and we tried for a long time adjusting the EQ.

This isn't your typical bass reflex Altec box.

Wonder how the woofer is unique from others?

Prolly never know unless somebody really old pops up. The most obvious is cosmetics. If I had to hazard a guess maybe a slightly heavier coil for the sealed box? But maybe not even that. Soon after repair kits became "one size fits all".
